At the Mid North Coast Sleep Clinic, we strive to help and support your patients suffering from sleep disorders with a focus on diagnosing and treating sleep apnoea. We have sleep clinics in Taree, Forster and Gloucester. Our team of friendly and professional sleep technologists and sleep physicians will assist your patients in diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnoea.

HOW TO ARRANGE A SLEEP STUDY FOR YOUR PATIENTS AT THE MID NORTH COAST SLEEP CLINIC:

1. Prepare a referral for your patient to our Sleep Physician Associate Professor Dr Michael Dodd.  You can use the MID NORTH COAST SLEEP CLINIC’S referral form if preferred.
2. Once the referral is completed, please have it emailed directly to the Mid North Coast Sleep Clinic’s email address; [email protected]
3. Once we receive the referral we will contact your patient to arrange an appointment for the study.

HOW TO REFER:

Please fill out one of our referral forms and our staff will contact your patient for an appointment as soon as the referral is received. 

All Medicare subsidised studies must meet the approved criteria in accordance with Medicare item #12250. I.e., for a GP to be able to refer a patient for a home sleep study, the patient must score ≥8/24 on The Epworth Sleepiness Scale AS WELL AS a score of 4 or more on the Stop/Bang questionnaire.

If this is criteria is not met, the patient will need to be referred to our respiratory/ sleep physician in Taree and Forster before being booked in for a study. 

• The patient will return the equipment to the clinic the following morning.
• The information is interpreted and reported on by one of our sleep scientists and Sleep Physician. This will take 3 to 7 days depending on which day of the week the study is performed. A faster turn around time can be arranged if the results are urgent.
• We will email/secure message the report to your practice, and will contact the patient to advise that the report is now available to discuss with you.

• Should it be recommended that your patient could benefit from CPAP Therapy, they can be referred back to Mid North Coast Sleep Clinic to commence a one month’s trial.
• Once a patient commences the one-month trial of CPAP therapy, you will be advised of the results and outcome of their compliance and tolerance of treatment.
• We are able to supply new CPAP equipment or arrange an application to ENABLE NSW to supply the equipment for those patients who are unable to meet the costs.
